We hope all school fathers had an enjoyable Fathers’ Day
2026 class requests
The year is hurtling towards term 4 and the time we begin looking at our class configurations and student placements.
If you have a particular request for your child’s placement for next year, please email me by Wednesday 22nd October. We consider every request and do our best to accommodate, but do not guarantee that we can do so.
If you are planning on moving your child to another school in 2026, please let us know by the same date (22/10/25) as this information is vital in the configuration of classes.
Please email Acting Principal, Steve Jeffrey this term and me in October.

Farewell to our beautiful gum tree.
As you are probably away, we had to remove our gum tree from the northern yard last week. We had noticed some dying branches and organised for an arborist to check it. They found that it was rotten over three quarters through and needed to be removed for safety reasons. We will miss its shade and elegance. We will take some time to decide how we add some more greenery for shade. We also plan to make the stump into a table the students can use.
Evidences of Learning (EoLs)
EoLs will be shared with families from Friday. There will be a combination of paper samples and videos on SeeSaw.
If you would like to discuss with your child's teacher, please contact them.

External School Review –
Our External Review has been undertaken and this afternoon the recommendations will be shared to our staff. These recommendations will be shared with the School Association and then with the wider community. Thank you to the parents who gave their time to be interviewed and to our wonderful students and staff who opened our school to this thorough review.
Surveys –
We want to hear from you, as input from families is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making. Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you took part in our online survey about Albuera Street Primary School.
The survey is open from Monday 25 August 2025 until Friday 19 September 2025 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/SrGbfkVQFO
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
Sports Colours Day- Wed 24 Sept
Just for funsies, students are welcome to wear the colours or outfit of their favourite sporting team or sport. This is not a fundraiser. The students will have had AFL sessions in PE in Weeks 9 & 10.
The School Association is running a BBQ for the students on that day as well. More information will be forthcoming.
School Association Meeting –
Please join us for the School Association Meeting on Wednesday 17th September via Teams at 6pm
Meeting ID: 481 759 371 149 1
Passcode: mV9jr6Xd
Long Service Leave
I am going on Long Service Leave from tomorrow, Thursday 11th until the end of the term. Mr Steve Jeffrey will be Acting Principal during that time. I look forward to seeing you all next term.

Kinder Pears

After reading The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch by Ronda and David Armitage, the Kinder Pears came up with their own plan to stop the cheeky seagulls from stealing the food from the basket.

Grade 2
To celebrate the first day of spring and National Wattle Day the Grade 2 Orcas painted some pictures of wattle blossom. We hope you enjoy their art.

Grade 3/4BE
This term in 3/4BE we have been looking at how we can integrate visual arts into our HASS and Science units.
We have been working on a ceramic’s unit using stoneware clay and glazes and all repurposed or recycled tools such as shells, kebab sticks, buttons and other found items.
First, we made two pinch pots/thumb pots that we joined together using a scratch and slip method. We then created a hole in the top of our pinch pots to turn them into a vase. We used the remainder of the clay to add texture, pattern and details to create different designs.
Our pots went to Derwent Ceramics to get fired in a bisque firing, after we applied a brush on glaze in eucalyptus, sunset and jacaranda colours.
They are currently waiting to be fired a second time in a stoneware firing which goes to 1280 degrees Celsius in the kiln.
We can’t wait to see how our pots look once they are finished!
We have also been creating small sun prints using a vegetable emulsion and anthotype process. We used pressed flowers and leaves to create our compositions and are waiting for the UV to change our prints over time!

Student Medications
It is a Department of Education requirement that all medications to be taken by students during the school day are to be passed into the office or teacher in charge of an excursion or camp. The medications require a signed doctor/pharmacist as well as parent permission form (these forms are available in the Forms and Documents panel in the newsletter or at the office). The medication is also to be in the original packaging so that staff know what they are administering. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Medical Action Plans
Every child at Albuera Street Primary with a medical condition needs to supply an updated medical plan to the school each year, especially those with Anaphylaxis and Asthma. Staff from Albuera have been trained in Anaphylaxis using EpiPens and also in Ventolin administration for Asthma. If you are new to the school and your child has a medical condition please come into the office and collect an appropriate action plan form, or if you just have questions please don’t hesitate to phone the school.
